Malleable taper thread socket

This malleable iron taper thread socket is a small coupling component, used to connect two threaded pipes together in a straight line.

Malleable iron is a strong, impact-resistant type of cast iron commonly used in pipe fittings. It’s tough but slightly flexible – and this malleability means the socket can handle pressure, vibration and temperature changes without cracking.

When male thread screws into the socket, the internal taper makes the fit tighten and seal, helping to create a pressure-tight joint.

CMT Engineering sources malleable iron fittings from Jinan Meide, the world’s leading brand of malleable iron fittings.

We are proud to say this malleable taper thread socket is:

  • Covered by the relevant international standards BS EN10242 and BS EN10143
  • BSI kitemarked
  • Has taper threads formed to the British standard ISO 7.1 to ensure the best possible joint
  • Available in self colour or hot dip galvanised finishes.

The design test pressure for sizes 1/8” (6mm) up to 4” (100mm) is 100 bar. This is a hydrostatic test at ambient temperature.
